Huge 30% off World Famous Brands.

Zazlze.com is offering 30% off World Famous brands in their back to school promo. Unfortunately for us in the UK, it's only applicable to the USA site, though the deep discounts may well make it worthwhile paying the international shipping.

USE PROMO CODE: BTSRULEBRAND

Offer is valid from July 25, 2010 through August 1, 2010 at 11:59pm PT. This offer does not apply to past purchases and may not be combined with any other Zazzle promotional or volume discount offers. If a volume discount applies to your order, you will receive either the discount set forth in this offer or the standard volume discount, whichever is greater. Offer valid on Zazzle.com only.

WooHoo - Vale, The Doctor, The G.O.A.T., is back!!!

I just have to say how pleased I am that the legend that is Valentino Rossi is returning to MotoGP this weekend at Sachsenring, Germany; just six weeks after suffering a displaced compound fracture of his tibia. He's still walking with crutches, but boy can he still ride a bike. Incredibly, he finished today's free practice session 0.7 of a second behind fastest man Pedrosa, and only 0.02 of a second behind his fully fit teammate Lorenzo! What a guy!! Fingers crossed that he has a safe and successful weekend. Go Rossi!!!!!

For those that don't already know, G.O.A.T. is the nickname given by Rossi's fellow motoGP riders and stands for "Greatest Of All Time". And even if you don't care, you know now, lol!

While I'm here and blabbing, I also want to say good luck to Hayden and Edwards.

Busy, busy

Once again I have found myself incredibly busy working on zazzle with very little time for anything else - get a life girl!! I started an article to post here last week and still haven't gotten back to finish it, maybe soon, lol. But I'm pleased to say that my efforts are beginning to pay off. In the space of 7 days I had sales 4 days in a row, then I skipped a day, and then I had three sales in one day. It may not sound like very much, but as a relative newbie it's pretty good going.

On top of that I got my second "Today's Best Award" for one of the 300+ Damask Wedding Stationery designs I added to the Artform The Heart store. The designs all use templates that are to some degree transparent so that the customer can change the background color for an almost unlimited number of different effects. I then noticed that I have a t-shirt from the same store featured on the "Vector T-shirts" frontpage and from the Animatastic store, a feature on the "Funniest T-Shirts Ever" frontpage, wow! Whilst I'm still puting in WAY more effort than I am receiving rewards, I still hope and believe that some day my stores will be successful!

Funny, strange & downright confusing place names.

Another one of those random thoughts that pop into my head!! I was thinking of some Scottish towns annd villages that have really bizarre spellings for their names and the confusion that it causes. Case in point - Milngavie. Anyone who doesn't know would pronounce it "mill-n-ga-vee" but it's actually "mull-guy". Could be confusing if one were to tell a visitor to Scotland to take the train to "mull-guy" and all they saw on the station signs was Milngavie!!

I know of one or two other confusing places nearby to where I live and I thought I'd look around for some more to compile a list. So here it is:

1. Kilncadzow, pronounced "kill-caig-ee". One of my particular favourites, lol.
2. I have to add this as my fiance always gets it wrong - Edinburgh. He pronounces it as he would Pittsburgh but it's actually "ed-in-burr-uh" or "ed-in-burr-oh" depending on whether or not you're posh, lol.
3. Culross and Culter are both pronounced with a "coo" but in the case of Culross, the 'l' is silent.

Moving away from Scotland now:

4. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in Wales. I won't even attempt to guess how to pronounce it!!
5. My fiance's home sate: Arkansas. Most of my family pronounce it exactly how it's spelled (I do too in my head when I'm writing/typing it, lol) but as most people know it's actually pronounced "are-can-saw".

Some fun names rather than mis-pronounced ones:

6. Okay, Oklahoma
7. Nameless, Tennessee
8. Girdletree, Maryland
9. Back to Scotland for another one: Assloss
10. This last one is so poular there is one in USA (Arkansas) AND one in Australia (Queensland). And it is .......................... Bald Knob.
